Honestly. I love some Pho so I did not know what to expect. Took me a minute to find the place but that's the best things about it. Walked in, say at the bar and was greeted right away. Small quint restaurant. Cool, relaxing atmosphere. I was under the weather and just wanted some Beef Pho. Very nice (preggers) female server approached. Took my order. Waiting about 10-15 min. Got my food. Took it home. Slammed it down. Needless to say. For $10 and some change. The staff. The location. The service and quality. I will definitely be going back. I want to try it all. Thanks!

Authentic flavor of Pho. The restaurant also looks very clean and trendy. Great service from Jimmy :)

Parking isn't that great in this neighborhood, but if you can get a spot the food is good. I had average service the first time I went, but it's since gotten better. The Pho is not as good as what I've found at other restaurants, but it's not bad. Since you don't have other local options in Fort Lauderdale, it is definitely worth the visit if you want Vietnamese food.

Coming from a long flight from Kansas City to Ft Lauderdale, we were craving for pho and found this closest Vietnamese restaurant. It is very Americanized place but not authentic Vietnamese food. It is missing many elements in their pho dac biet bowl, which shouldn't be called pho dac biet. Very disappointed when they brought it out. There are not many Vietnamese restaurants in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area, but I would rather go to the Pho Thang in Miami as their pho bac biet is a lot better. If you want authentic Vietnamese food, I would suggest you try Pho Thang in Miami!

So, I had been wanting to try some Vietnamese food and did some research and found this place. My husband had been exposed to traditional Vietnamese food and when he read the reviews we decided to try it - and I'm SO glad we did! The décor was simple and elegant. The location is good, but parking, not so much. We were promptly greeted, seated and immediately brought water shrimp crackers - which, by the way, were delicious. The waitress - I'm sorry I don't remember her name, but she was gracious, VERY knowledgeable about the menu and VERY helpful. The food all around us looked great but I was there to try one thing - THE PHO! I decided on the grilled beef pho and my husband had the Curried Duck Pho. They were both AMAZING! The prices were reasonable. We had 2 appetizers, 2 bowls of Pho and 3 drinks and our bill was less than $60. I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking to try Vietnamese for the first time or anyone who eats it regularly. It's a must try for anyone - will DEFINENTLY be going back!

Was disappointed as I usually am when it comes to Fort Lauderdale's foodie scene. Vietnamese is one of my favorite cuisines and I was so hoping that I had found something I could visit on a weekly basis. In a nutshell it was Americanized Vietnamese food....not authentic by any means. I have them 3 starts because the service was great and the seafood appetizer we had was good, just not authentic.

Simple and casual spot! Location is definitely good for a date night or quick lunch! Parking was annoying because of the way the location is situated ! I circled 3 times before I found it. Called restaurant and he gave me quick location directions. I assume they have this problem a lot. Overall a great stop! I'll be back and bring some friends that share the taste ! I was looking for some Vietnamese Pho and got a referral. Food was great and service was smooth. Yelp approved!

Not the best and not the worst. I have had better Lemongrass chicken, but the service and dining area was good.

Definitely the best veggie pho and chicken pho we have ever had! Add both sauces for some great flavor! Delish.

Our new favorite restaurant! Service was excellent and food was out of this world. I have been to Vietnam several times and these folks really don't leave much behind. Hue Spicy Soup and Lemongrass Beef Vermicelli were both excellent and priced right.

Love this place. First and foremost, the pho if the key dish to get here. They offer an assortment of different pho dishes and they are amazing. I usually get the sliced beef and the grilled beef pho. The portion is huge and the broth is very flavorful. Wife skates gets the shaking beef. It's a filet mignon cooked to perfection, served with a simple yet amazing dipping salt/pepper/lime sauce. The rice paper rolls in beef and shrimp are excellent and refreshing. Staff is courteous. The place is small so expect a wait on busy nights.

The place is small but I think that makes it better, atmosphere is great. Servers are very friendly and funny, I felt they should be having dinner with us! Seafood pho was gooood! I didn't see it on the menu, but I got it! Lovely place.

Finally a great Vietnamese restaurant on the beach. Came here for a lunch date to celebrate my engagement with my fiancée. We love coming to Basilic Vietnamese Grill. We are addicted to the grilled beef pho! Honestly, the best pho broth, every component to this broth is essential for it's ultimate flavor. We also highly recommend their red bean ice cream with fried bananas. By the way, these are our favorite dishes but anything you order here is super delicious. My fiancée and I come here at least once a week, it is our go-to. Especially since we love Jimmy's service and the whole staff. They all know what we want before we even sit down. This place is full of great vibes. Also, everyday 3-6PM is 2 for 1 happy hour. Perfect!

Found this place on Yelp, despite living in this county for (literally) 40 years. Very clean, modern and hip decor with subdued lighting and a fresh feel. Parking can be a challenge, but if you don't mind a nice walk you'll certainly find metered spots. The menu is rather extensive for a smallish Vietnamese restaurant, which means something for everyone. Started with the shrimp and pork fresh rolls (not fried) which were awesome- and the peanut dipping sauce made it! My wife grabbed a bubble tea (yum!) but without the milk - they did it for her no problem. We each opted next for a monster bowl of soup-- and took the server's recommendations (good move). The beef stew pho was ridiculously amazing - holy pho! Tender brisket, the best broth ever, and a ton of additional veggie goodness. Chicken pho was also very tasty - marinated and grilled chicken, piping hot broth, rice noodles and bean spouts. So big you can hardly finish them, but we tried our best! Definitely check this place out!

I came here on a recommendation from a friend, and my first time will definitely not be my last, this place is super fantastic! There was a little bit of a wait time for a seat, but it was worth it because the food and drinks were so good. It was my first time trying pho, and it was definitely a good experience. I had the beef pho with a honeydew boba milk tea, everything was absolutely delicious and the people were so nice! Definitely gonna make this a regular spot.

Food taste good but my only issue is that it's not real Vietnamese. I tried there combo pho and only received 3 meats and no marrow. This was my first and last time visiting this restaurant until they can actually cook a proper dish. Go to Pho 78 in university and pines blvd. in Pembroke Pines and that is what a pho should be.

So many better options for Vietnamese food in South Florida. The Pho here was not flavorful. Actually it was pretty bland. Perhaps the day we went was a bad showing, but the staff was not attentive at all. We waited about 20 minutes as the restaurant was pretty busy but small. After we were seated, the waiter took another 15 minutes before he returned with waters for the table, and another 10 minutes later to take our order. I would pass on this one

  • Danny H.

Love this place, the pho is delicious! I usually have the papaya salad and the spicy beef mixed vegetables plate. The spring rolls are very good too. I want to try the Vietnamese sandwiches but they only serve them for lunch.. Only negative for me.. Still giving them a 5 star!

  • Kimberly S.

I took my Vietnamese girlfriend to eat here and we both enjoyed the food and the ambiance. However, we felt rushed to finish our food by our server. As soon as we where we done, he gave us the check and did not offer us dessert. We figured it was because he wanted to open up the table for another couple. The servers need a little improvement in allowing the guest to enjoy the food and the overall experience of eating at Basilic and not be rushed out.

This place was pretty packed on a Thursday's night. Service is a little slow and parking may be an issue. The prices are reasonable and the food taste good. We loved their crispy rice noodle with beef.

Very spicy food. Great service. Free parking. Grilled chicken pho is excellent. Appetizer platter is a good way to try all their rolls.

Start off with the deco, it is modern, inviting and that's how all smaller size Asian Cuisine restaurant should look like. Since we were party of five right after July 4th, it was packed and short of staff. But all patrons stayed behind and that was a good sign, Started off with a sampler appetizer with almost everything and the plate had good amount of food to share. Everyone loved their rolls, the peanut sauce for dipping and from this starter we know the rest of the food flowing out will be great! Will make an attempt to come back even thought it's a 45 minutes highway driving from home. If you love curry or spicy noodle in soup, go for it! Both are great choices!

Ordered the grilled shrimp, pork, and egg roll. Overall is good but price is up there comparing to the Bay Area. I like their decoration and their service.

  • John H.

This place has a nice decor and definitely caters to the western palate. The nuoc mam is bland but the portions are big. Dinner for 3 including the combination platter as an app was 55 dollars. Parking consists of 5 metered spots or across the busy street.

  • Corey K.

Dined at the Boca location last night with the wife and it is every bit as good as the LBS location! I had the shaking beef and fresh spring roll and both were superb! Wife also had the fresh spring roll and her favorite dish, Pho with meatballs...strange seeing a former German eat that hot and spicy stuff..but.. nevertheless she enjoyed the heck out of it! The interior is tastefully done in shades of white and makes for a nice intimate experience. Only detractor was the table sat behind us who for the love of God would not stop talking at full on rock fest at Joe Robbie Stadium volumes!

I'm from Southern California where Vietnamese food is plentiful so I was extremely doubtful about having Vietnamese food here. However, to my surprise it was good. Okay, it's definitely not authentic & not the best Vietnamese food but it's good food & that's all I can ask for since there's far & few Vietnamese places around. I had the shaken beef & my husband had the lemongrass stir fry. We started with egg rolls & a basket of shrimp crackers that were on the house. Everything was good! The place is quaint & clean, service is excellent. If I was in the area, I would come back.

I come this small restaurant almost once a week. There is probably less than 20 tables in the whole place but the food is always great and the service is friendly and fast. The location is a bit easy to miss and while there is some free parking on the side of the building, it's hard to come by, but there are typically ample metered parking spots across the street. Most days I get the Beef Pho, a huge bowl of flavorful noodle soup with plenty of bean sprouts, fresh basil leaves, jalepenos, limes, and a variety of sauces on the side to add as you please. I've also had the shaking beef which is quite amazing. The shrimp chips you get when you sit down are very addicting too! It's definitely hard to stop eating them once you start.

I have only been here for lunch (i work nights) and have loved it every time. The guy that is usually on in the day times always greets me and my bf with a familiar smile. Its nice to come to a place where they recognize you as well as your order. I am from up North and have found it hard to find a good pho place in south Florida. Basilic is hands down the best i have tried for this Vietnamese dish. My other favorite is the calamari. Have told many people about this place and will continue to go :)

I have been looking for delicious Pho in Fort Lauderdale, which is harder than you might think. I'm a fan of Vietnamese, Vermicelli noodles and Pho, and Basilic definitely has an incredible pho. I'm not as big a fan of their Vermicelli, but their Pho is out of this world. Delicious beef brisket, and the broth is incredible. The noodles are really wonderful, and incredibly light. The service is friendly enough. I generally go alone, so I would prefer more talkative, friendly servers, and at Basilic they are all business. But it doesn't matter that much since it doesn't take away from the food at all. More of a personal preference. Before the meal they give you wonderful, crunchy fishcakes. If you've never had them, they are tasty chips that have a light shrimpy flavor. Really a wonderful little beginning to the meal.

  • Mariam D.

I had an amazing lunch here! Basilic boasts authentic cuisine in a casual and corner spot with a view of my favorite hometown. The bubble fish soup was a new addition to their menu and insanely delicious. It is indeed a species related to the blow fish/puffer fish, and a delicacy of the region. The Beef Carpaccio was recommended by our waiter and a definite win: thinly sliced with fresh lime, herbs, and vegetables and presented beautifully. A few Kirins and great, timely service. The Ox Tail Pho followed and was excellent ... my first time trying ox tail and it was a flavorful first impression. The Seafood Wok Tossed Noodles were awesome: shrimp, scallops, squid rings tossed with thin noodles in a superbly tasty sauce and loaded with veggies - carrots, bok choy, watercress, sugar snap peas, broccoli, and mushrooms. I can't wait to come back and try more from this menu, and plan on delighting in a bubble tea too (Taro, honey dew, coconut, mango, and pineapple).

My girlfriend and I were traveling on a cruise and stayed in fll for a couple nights before. We searched for good Vietnamese places and this one definitely hit the spot. Pho, rice dishes and noodle dishes were all really good. We got a rice dish, spicy beef, which was particularly tasty...spicy and sauce was very clean (not too oily). Great ambience and close to the ocean!

our 1st time there and when we walked in there were 2 ladies waiting, lots of unbussed tables and no 1 around 2 greet us. we agreed we were off to a smidge of a rough start, but i was confident the food would make up 4 it. its a really cute clean small place and who doesnt like bamboo? so we sit and our server is friendly and brings us water. we ordered a ham roll, which was ok and the beef pho which was fabulous. i could eat that broth all day. we're certainly excited 2 go back and try more. i really wish they had more dessert choices. i mean hit us w some authentic vietnamese dessert! we can take it! ill update this review when we try some other dishes bcuz i know theres much more 2 this place than our lil experience. looking 4ward to it. thanks 4 reading

Oh my God. This place is the most amazing restaurant I've ever been to in Florida. It's a small Vietnamese restaurant (wootwoot Vietnamese food!) where the atmosphere is light and relaxing, just the way I like it. The decor is very nice, with all the bamboo and plants. The waiter seemed a bit - I don't know how to put it - reserved, I guess, at first. Then our family talked a bit with him and I thought he was extremely friendly. If I had money, I would've given him the best tip ever! Before eating our meals, they brought us asian shrimp chips, which I simply adoreeee, and they tasted like any other shrimp chips, but whoever in this restaurant thought of doing this, was a genius. I ordered pork chops, which were salty but delicious and tasty. The pho tai my cousins had was good too. I'd go eat there every day if I could.

This place is pretty expensive for a Vietnamese restaurant. I initially came because I saw that the BBT was listed on Yelp as $3.50 a cup... But it turned out to be $6.00 for a cup. Yikes! A plate of rice is $19... I've never even heard of such prices for that, even in NYC. I had the green papaya salad, it wasn't bad... A little on the sweet side but still tasty. I really wish the prices were more reasonable here.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Broward County! Authentic food with fresh, high quality ingredients. The setup is intimate and cozy but modern and the staff are very friendly. Cannot be beat for the value for the price and the leftovers are fantastic. I don't eat a lot of beef but the beef pho is outstanding! A few other favorites are the curry noodle soup, grilled chicken pho, and crispy rice noodle beef sauté with brown sauce... to die for.

This was my first time ever trying Vietnamese food and I will tell you it will not be my last, thanks to a few reviews I decided to try the Beef Pho which is a Noodle Soup Bowl with slices of rare steak & brisket served with thin Rice Noodles Beef Broth Topped With Fresh Green Onion, Cilantro, Basil, Lime And Bean Sprouts - it was superb!!!! The broth very flavorful and was just right. My boyfriend ordered the House Special Seafood Soup which is a seafood and noodle soup and he also said it was phenomenal. I also ordered the Fresh Grill Beef Rolls (bo nuong cuon) which consisted of grilled thin sliced beef, lettuce, basil, mint, bean sprouts, cucumber wrapped in fresh rice paper served with a delicious peanut sauce. We ordered delivery and everything came perfectly wrapped and separate, meaning that the soups were just the broth and all the components were wrapped separately so you could assemble it yourself to your liking. Also, the Beef Rolls came with a lot of mint leaves, and pickled carrots, chives and cucumbers on the side. They also delivered a small bag of puffed shrimp chips, I don't like shrimp but my boyfriend said they were very good. Everything was very fresh, I honestly did not think I would enjoy it so much and have been craving both the soup and beef rolls ever since. I will definitely order from Basilic again. Update - I am officially hooked on the Beef Stew! It is the most delicious stew I have ever had! The meat is very tender and not fatty, with carrots and onions, the overall flavor is just ridiculously good! I am a fan of the Shaking beef as well, which is wok tossed beef filet with veggies served with fried rice, excellent too. We have been ordering from Basilic a few weekends in a row now, its sooo good!

This restaurant definitely does not serve authentic Vietnamese food. We had the spicy hue noodle soup and chicken curry over rice. The hue noodle soup was very bland. It was spicy though. The soup did not include blood or pig feet as in the traditional hue noodle soup. The chicken curry wasn't that good. It tasted more like Indian curry than Vietnamese curry. The curry wasn't sweet enough and I was not able to taste any coconut milk in it. They did give a lot of chicken though. The price is definitely on the high side for Vietnamese food but probably this is the standard price since there are not many Vietnamese restaurants in the area so the pricing reflects this. The spicy hue noodle soup was 10 bux and the curry was 12 bux I believe. Most of the high ratings for this restaurant are from American (white) or non Vietnamese reviewers so I would take their high rating reviews with a grain of salt.

  • Fred S.

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants we have eaten at. We drive many weekends from Boca just to eat here! We are literally going through the entire menu item by item as we eat here each week and have yet to discover something that we didn't really like a lot. We eat mostly Asian food each weekend and we rate this one very high on the scale of the restaurants we have visited. Even picky eaters will find something they like on the menu

This place rocks! The flavor of the spicy Pho was amazing. So many layers. I would have to say I experienced umami! Thank you Basilic. Coming from Chicago and stopping in for a quick bite was a great decision on my part. A must try!!

One of my favorite places. The Pho is actually addicting to the point where I sometimes even order it to go so that I don't have to sit there and eat it every day and look like I'm addicted to it! lol The staff is friendly. They have a good happy hour too with two for one drinks. Seriously though, best Pho in South Florida.

Great overall experience here. We went Noodle House the day before and it wasn't as good as this place. The dishes we ordered here were way more flavorful. The restaurant was clean with up to date décor. The service was also satisfactory.

Always, ALWAYS the BEST! Honestly, I've had some great Vietnamese food, and this one is the best I can recall! Definitely the BEST in South Florida! YUM! And we love our server Lauren! She always gives us the BEST advice on what to order and how to order it! We LOVE her!

How is it that I haven't reviewed this restaurant yet? I am one Pho away from getting my own parking spot here. I have take my addition to their grilled chicken Pho to a whole new level. I have been consistently been eating here once a week and now I take out once a week...it's bad. I have had my share of Pho, just recently relocating from LA where there is a Vietnamese restaurant on every street corner. Basilic does it right with their lemongrass gilled chicken Pho and their homemade lemongrass chili oil (mouth watering).

    (5)
  • Jeff N.

Basilic has great food at reasonable prices especially considering its in a modern, trendy setting in the middle of the LBTS tourist district and not a strip mall on state road 7. It's pretty small so it's not uncommon to have a wait if its a weekend night but it's worth the wait. Good pho, shrimp crackers, papaya salad, spring rolls and more.

Recently came here to test out the Vietnamese fare. My dinner partner and I ordered the Imperial rolls, which were good and had a good dipping sauce. I wish the rolls were a bit meatier, but hey...I'm from Texas so that's to be expected I suppose. I ordered the combination pho, which was flavorful, aromatic yet light. My only qualm with this was that the portion was less than what I'm used to and cost nearly double what is typical where I'm from. Overall, it was tasty, but I probably wouldn't order it again unless I was really craving some Vietnamese food and didn't have access to my mama's home cookin'...

It has been difficult to find pho in my local area. This place is near my husband's office so we were able to visit and get some lunch pho. Very tasty, I love the idea that they grill the chicken, so much tastier than boiled chicken. The lemongrass/ginger/chili homemade salsa/sauce on table is worth the visit, we put it on everything! The pho is pricey but authentic, the boba tea is just what I needed since finding a good tea place has been hard too!

OK- I have just gotten into Vietnamese food, but this is the best I have ever had. Place was packed on a Monday eve. Chicken Pho rocked, with fresh basil, hot and sweet sauce, stainless steel chopsticks, fresh and crunchy sprouts. Fiance had the chicken wok noodles that were just HUGE on flavor. Had the fresh pork and shrimp spring rolls- get outta town. This is a craveable place- we will be back within the week. GO GO GO!

Groupon Poetry in Motion... This is the true purpose of Groupon! We moved to the area about 6 months ago and had hesitated to try this restaurant for no other reason than fear of the unknown. There are a lot of choices around here and we just didn't make it a priority to get in. When a Groupon came up for it, I jumped at the chance to grab a discounted try. The restaurant is small and they had obviously just run a promotion so while we waited for 10 minutes, we didn't mind at all and felt it was reasonable. Our waitress approached us immediately and was friendly and helpful. She made suggestions about the menu and gave great descriptions of the dishes. I'm somewhat new to Vietnamese food, and appreciated her willingness to assist us - as a true customer service person should! The food. Here's what we had: First, we were greeted with a fresh basket of light fluffy "shrimp chips," which might sound off putting but end up to be a very addictive substitute for the standard bread basket. Light and fluffy, they are plain on their own but sing with a dab of soy sauce. On our waitress' recommendation we also ordered the traditional pork spring roll appetizer. The contents of these rolls was delicious - my only issue being how chewy the rice wrapper was, but, in my experience, that's just how that type of wrapper is. Entrees. We ordered the "Shaking Beef," BBQ Pork Fried Rice and Ha Noi style vermicelli - with the Shaking Beef being the breakout star. It was seasoned very well, cooked to a perfect medium rare, and came with an eggy rice and peppers and onions in addition to the traditional lime wedge. My concern was that it would taste too Italian with that ingredient combination - far from! This had notes that hit all of the flavor profiles. Although the fried rice was enough to be a meal and stand on it's own and the Ha Noi noodle bowl was light and equally delicious and savory, once I had a bite of the Shaking Beef I was hooked! This is a must order. Another great note - we had enough of the fried rice and noodle bowl leftover to each have some for lunch the next day and it was great on the reheat too. No room for dessert but we will be back - with our without a discount!

Only been here once -- recommended by a Vietnamese waiter at Lemongrass Bistro -- but our experience would definitely bring me back again soon! The Vietnamese dishes -- at least at our table of four -- tended to lean more towards the Americanized side of cooking. (I say this simply from my experience at a truly authentic Vietnamese restaurant that I love in the Kaimuki district of Honolulu.) No doubt I will have to return to try some other dishes to make a true determination of this restaurant. Again, though, on one experience, it was definitely a winner!

First time having Vietnamese food and I was very impressed. Had the combination pho and it was amazing... Huge serving too. Place is pretty small, so there might be a short wait on a weekend night. We sat at the bar and were served pretty quickly. I'll go back next time I'm in the area!

First Pho in Florida, coming from DC definitely give it a 5 stars. The waiter, forgot his name with tats was awesome. Provided good service and explained the menu options to the T. I will be coming back to this place next time I'm in the area.

It was refreshing to find a Vietnamese restaurant in East Fort Lauderdale. Thank you, groupon for showing me this place and due to the deal, this tiny place was beyond packed. My girlfriend and I came back another day for a Lalunch or what is commonly known as the late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to see Bahn Mi on the menu because not many Vietnamese restaurants serve this delicious Vietnamese sub. Naturally, I had to order the Beef Bahn Mi and my girlfriend ordered the Combination Pho. While we waited, we happily munched on their Shrimp Chips. Did I say munch? I meant devoured those Shrimp Chips. Be wary of the Shrimp Crack (ers). Before we knew it, the food was out sitting in front of us. PHO The Comination Pho was just average and it felt like they were a little stingy with the herbs and other adds that traditionally come with the pho. We got no mint. Thankfully, we got a side of cilantro to fix the sweet broth. Sweet broth just does not mix with pho. I would rather go to Pho Hoa because their pho is cheaper and better BAHN MI Beef Bahn Mi was the star of the night. The meat and bread were perfect as was the proportions of veggies to meat in the Bahn Mi. It is definitely a big proportion. I would certainly come back for this, but why only serve for lunch. PRICE It is certainly pricey for those aware of what Pho and Bahn Mi normally go for in other Asian spots, but due to the lack of Bahn Mi places, I really do mind the price. OVERALL Get the Bahn Mi. It is a winner

Not to familiar with Vietnamese Cuisine, but I'd definitely go back for seconds! So glad that I had the opportunity to dine at Basilic Vietnamese Grill in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL. As my headline points out, I'm not really familiar with Vietnamese cuisine but I had a really nice time and the food was great. I pretty much ordered what was recommended to me by my friends -- and ultimately we did a lot of family-style sharing (i.e., eating off each others' plates.) Starters included wanton soup, fried rice and a calamari plate. My entree Shaking Beef (sp???) was really well cooked. All-in-all, food was fresh, hot and served with a smile! Venue definitely had a neighborhood feel -- no pretense -- no attitude -- just a friendly crowd that seemed to be enjoying their evening. If ever visiting Ft. Lauderdale, I'd recommend giving this place a try. Many thanks to the staff and chef at Basilic Vietnamese Grill for a great evening!

Went there for late lunch today around 3 pm. Place was empty. It kind of scared me. I think it is because they don't offer any lunch specials. But i got quick service and excellent food. I had grilled chicken Pho soup. It is served with a choice of sauces and crispy chips. Great presentation. The bowl was huge. I barely finished half of it. The service was excellent. Very friendly and accommodating waiter. I will be back for dinner. But please, have some lunch specials and you will have the place full with local professionals.

I cannot even review anything except for the chicken pho and the spring rolls because they are so good it's the only thing I order. Come here at least every other week because of my pho cravings. My friends and I are addicted. Haven't found pho this good since I lived in L.A. Even better is sometimes they are on Groupon! Love the food and the service is always great.

I really like this place. I have read several reviews about this restaurant where people from CA and Canada, for example, are criticizing the food and calling it unauthentic. I do agree that this does have a different taste than what I've had in Vietnam -- yes, the mother land-- but it's still very good. Our soil, rain water, pollution, live stock, etcetera play a huge part on how things taste. The owner of this restaurant is Vietnamese and I'm sure knows how to cook authentic Viet food. I've heard learned people say about Italian cooking that there are as many tomato sauces as there are kitchens in Italy. That being said, give this place a try, don't be so closed minded, and enjoy their interpretation of their National food. I've been here dozens of times and will return over and over.

I was so excited when we discovered this new little place on Commercial Blvd east near the beach. I had never had the pleasure of Vietnamese so I was so happy to try something new. Everyone raves about the Beef Pho and there is good reason. It's delicious and filling especially on a cold rainy day. And those shrimp chips....love them. Can't get enough of those little spit sucking chippers. I did try the BBQ Pork Fried Rice on one visit and was not impressed. I think if you stick to the core traditional Vietnamese offerings you can't go wrong. We also enjoy the wine selection and pricing. We had a very affordable bottle of of a nice Malbec. So if you had a bad day and want a quick and affordable meal to warm your tummy and your soul, check out Basilic!

My partner and I did not have high hopes for finding authentic Vietnamese in south Florida, the land of awful New York style acidic pizza and strip malls. But near out home was a gem nestled in with the T-shirt shops and "We Buy Gold" pawn-o-ramas on Commercial Blvd in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea with solid reviews. Everyone who gave this place a good review is right. The staff and owner were all friendly, the prices were a bargain and everything that came out of the kitchen was authentic, flavorful and delicious. We've eaten in Bangkok, Hong Kong and little Vietnam in Chicago (old home town) and the food here at Basilic was every bit as good if not a bit better. My spicy bowl of Pho was fresh tasting and all the flavors were distinct - a challenging feat in a a bowl of soup. Fresh cool spring rolls with peanut sauce were flavorful and prepared to order. And whatever your server suggests for a dessert will be as unique and flavorful as your dinner. Last night was friend dumplings stuffed with banana, Served in mango ice cream and sprinkled with peanut pieces. Harmoniously flavorful. This is now one of our faves and hope to be back often.

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. It's small, clean, and has great food. I always get the beef pho which is EXCELLENT! Also the spicy beef carpaccio is a great appetizer to start off with. Small restaurants like these tend to be my favorite types of places and customer service has always been great. I can't wait to come back next week!

Great atmosphere! Food is delicious! Spring rolls, Bahn Mi ( I had the meatball) and the Phu (I had the combination). The soup comes with fresh basil, sprouts and fresh jalapeno to add in. Everything came out hot and delicious.

This is the best Pho outside of San Francisco I've ever had. The Pho broth is not like many in the south Florida area--it's bold and full of flavor and aroma. The price is reasonable ($9.50) for a good sized portion, and they are not skimpy on the beef by any means. The shrimp and pork imperial rolls were delicious also. Our waitress was attentive and polite, and even offered to explain the entire menu to my girlfriend if she wanted. We were drawn here by the good Yelp reviews, and the fantastic food and service will keep us going back.

1 review? Seriously! It is good so I am sold. We ordered 3 things so I will comment on that. First up was the AMAZING seafood crepe appetizer. So full of flavor and light I could not stop eating it but had to to save room in the belly. I would have that for a dish alone! I ordered Beef Pho and it was very good. Thin noodles, the way I like it (I like my thick noodles in Udon) and full of flavor. The wait staff are very friendly and the place is very cozy. My mom ordered the shrimp tossed rice I believe it was and it is basically fried rice with AT LEAST a pound of shrimp in it. Not skimpy on portions that is for sure. So the rice and shrimp wasn't mind blowing to me since it was simple but wasn't bad. I love Tedesco's, the Italian restaurant that was there before (but moved) so glad to see this space is being used by another good place to eat. will return for sure.

This is our favorite Pho place in South Florida. We've been to almost every Pho restaurant in South Florida and this one ranks #1.* The pho and bun are delicious, as is the beef salad. The beef stew isn't the best I've had but the Pho broth is top notch. The one issue we consistently have here is that they run out of Bánh mì before we get there (in fairness, most folks eat sandwiches for lunch rather than as a side dish at dinner so it makes sense that by the time our lazy gluttonous selves manage to straggle in they're all out). The atmosphere is nice and the service is consistently awesome so that makes up for it. It's also close to the beach so it's a nice place to go for a date (bleck). My Vietnamese pseudo-parents' in law liked it and have begun telling their family that there is at least one good Viet restaurant in Florida. * Is this the greatest Vietnamese food I've ever had? No. But it's consistently delicious and it's in South Florida where I live. If I had a magic shuttle that instantaneously transported me to any Pho place in North America whenever I got hungry I'd probably go to Rice and Noodles in Lancaster PA. But I think everything has to be evaluated in the context of its own area. So, bottomline it's the best there is in South Florida.

I've been here 3 times in the past month, and I'm *addicted* to their beef pho soup! (How's that for an opening?) The atmosphere is contemporary, with tables, booths and a bar with a good selection of wines and beers. It's a small environment great for casual dining (or even a first date). They're open for lunch and dinner, and I've been to both, equally great in service and both crowded and buzzing with local and visiting diners. (Best to arrive between 5-6pm on Fridays and Saturdays, otherwise there will be a wait to get in, but once you're in, you'll agree the wait is worth it!) For starters, they serve rice crackers and two sauces to compliment them. For our appetizer, we got their fresh Spring rolls (cold, not fried) with shrimp, beef and veggies wrapped in rice paper and served with a peanut sauce. Back to the beef pho, it has the perfect blend of lime, Thai basil, cilantro and what I think is cloves in a light beef broth with rice noodles, thinly sliced rare beef and brisket. It comes with two sauces to mix in if desired, an ample amount of bean sprouts, more Thai basil and jalapenos. My friend got their chicken pho and was just as enamored with it as I was with mine. Our dessert was fried bananas on top of vanilla (and I think orange) ice cream with honey and peanut granules sprinkled over it. A perfect ending to a delicious meal!

One of my favorite spots in South Florida...we visit 1-2 times per week. The Grilled Chicken Pho is delicious! The shrimp crackers and the lemongrass chile sauce on each table makes an excellent starter. Fast, friendly service and a cute location near the beach.

This place is great ! I only wish I discovered it 2 years ago ! I have been here 3X in the fast few months. Consistently fresh, delicious food and great customer service ! The place is clean with a minimalist decor. Appears to be very well run. I went with a Vietnamese friend my last time there and he devoured is Pho as said it was the best he has had in FL. The only downside is the parking can be a little tricky, since they only have about 4 free spaces, otherwise you have to use a meter.

I want to really dog this place because we had such a horrible experience...the only redeeming quality is that the food is good. This yelp is after our second visit. We purchased a groupon....hoping to try something new. We went to use our groupon for lunch..but were informed that the groupon could only be used after 5:00pm...same menu...but after 5:00. Ok. My daughter and I ate there anyway... We ordered shrimp rockets and two bowls of Beef Pho. The following is what is wrong with the restaurant. 1. Only one server on and the place is packed. (our service was Slllloooooowww! 2nd visit: We go after 5:00....8:00pm to be exact...you have to pay for parking, so we put in enough for 1hr 26 minutes...surely that should be enough time to go in and get two bowls of Beef Pho and some spring rolls. WRONG!!! The service was like molasses....it took 20 minutes to get our spring rolls and another 50 minutes to get our Pho...they only have about 10 tables in the whole place...the orders were staggered so the kitchen could not have been overwhelmed. It was ridiculous. These two bad service experiences are why we will not eat there again. If you go there be prepared to WAIT! The food was good....but the service is so bad that it is not worth it.

I tried this place early evening. Staff were very friendly and the place filled up pretty good while I was there. I ordered Tue beef roll and chicken pho, (must have had a brain f..t moment because I'd been craving beef pho all day). The rolls were too loose making them next to impossible to eat. Condiments, including the peanut dipping sauce that came with it were very good. They needed to be as the rolls were very bland. Next up the pho. I'll be brief. Bland broth, little depth of flavor. Needed a lot of help from the condiments. Lots of noodles, not much else. Overall it was pretty dissappointing. Is go back for a second shot as the place and staff were nice and maybe it was just a bad day. But there's better around, cheaper and with more flavor.

The BEST PHO in South Florida! Hands down! I can't wait to have it again.

  • Bernardo A.

Full disclosure. My experience with Vietnamese food is reduced to food truck Banh mi in NYC, a restaurant in Paris 20 years ago (one of the best meals of my life) and Pho Hoa in South Florida. So, an expert in Vietnamese cuisine, I'm not; but I don't have to be an expert on anything to know that the food served at Basilic is fresh. The fresh summer rolls were crisp where they should be and soft where they should be and the flavors were clean. The tiniest bit of peanut sauce and hot sauce were enough to condiment each bite. The pho was great. A good portion for one. I agree with some reviewers that the broth had no depth of flavor; but it sure tasted fresh. It was delicious in its own right. The service was very friendly and efficient. Our waiter was quick and decisive with recommendations that were not necessarily the day's specials. Overall, a great dining experience. I will definitely go again.

So... I decided to try it again because at the time I was living right by there and didn't feel like driving way out west to my usual spots. Sometimes restaurants have a bad day-- I can be understanding because I've been in the biz for nine years. But now I'm positive I wont be spending anymore money here. Goi Cuon: It had 90% brownish looking ice burg lettuce, one sliver of cucumber, one shrimp cut in half and PORK, even though I TOLD the server I cannot eat pork. Pho Bo: My date had ordered this, I tasted the broth and it was very bland. Hu Tieu Do Bien va Wonton: SO. Their menu's only semi description of it was "Seafood Egg Noodle & Wontons"... Once again I had asked for NO pork, and if pork would be in the wontons. The server said no, she was positive there was just seafood in this dish. Once I got it, it had PORK slices on top, three shrimp, three small pieces of squid and sure enough there was no rau to go with the soup. The service: Not only did our server didn't look presentable (unbrushed blond hair with tattoos sticking out and used foul language) but she also hardly checked on us. never tried to fix any of the mess ups and charged us for everything, even though it was clear we didn't like our dishes because we took just a few bites and told her no boxes BC we didn't like it. I don't expect a free meal, but maybe for her to try and fix it and apologize. Never asked if we would want a refill on our drinks, or another beer the entire time we were there. Never offered if she could bring us anything else. Just dropped off the check and said "here you go, have a great day!" in a pretty sarcastic manor. I'm pretty understanding if the server isn't able to make it to my table if he or she is busy, but this girl had ONE other table. Really?

LOVE Basilic!! It's one of our absolute favorite restaurants. It can get busy and you'll have to wait but it's so worth the wait. We love the Grilled Chicken Pho and the Shaking Beef. The beer selection is fun and the wine selection is varied. The servers are attentive and do a great job. LOVE!!

A new "go to" for Asian fusion, this small restaurant boasts a tastefully modern decor, simple, yet pleasant for an intimate meal out, even a Saturday night date night. Not merely a Vietnamese focus, as there is a nice Fried Rice selection, too, chocked with shrimp and chicken, and an abundance of vegetables. My lemongrass chicken was flavorful, and loaded with sliced colorful peppers and onions, more than enough to satisfy. It was served with a few sides, of a spicy, tiny cut slaw, and jasmine rice. Many Pho and noodle dishes round out the menu. For the price, it can't be beat!

We were in the area on vacation for the week, and were craving for good Asian food. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprise! The food was really authentic, the pho was not much different than the ones we get in NYC. The service was awesome, the waitresses were very attentive to our 2 year old girl. We liked it so much, we ate there twice during our 6 day trip. We highly recommend this place.

Basilic is a very nice place for tasty and inexpensive Vietnamese food. Everything we had was solid. We started with the spring rolls which I liked although I personally prefer the fish sauce based nuoc cham over peanut sauce with my rolls. For my entree, I ordered the combination bun which was topped with shrimp, imperial roll, and grilled pork. Everything was very good and fresh but in my opinion the sauce was lacking a little "kick" so I stole some of my mom's sriracha. It was odd to me that they didn't have bottles of sriracha on the table as a condiment. Instead, they give you a tiny bowl of sriracha, along with hoisin, if you order pho. Weird. The service was really excellent though. Our server was attentive and friendly. I ordered a glass of reisling and when they discovered they didn't have enough for a regular serving, they comped us for it which I thought was a very cool gesture!

Being here few times now and I'm not disappointed by a meal yet. I have had the Pho which is a big portion but not the best I had considering it does not have all the veggies that I have been offered at other vietnamese places but still good. The chips that are served before the meal are addictive that I two baskets because I want to be a fatty at this place. I love the spicy stir fry beef . It is one of my favorite dishes and the lemon grass chicken is another favorite. The owner is usually located on the premises and the staff is always friendly and pleasing. This place is not a large restaurant but getting a table usually doesn't take long. It's located about two blocks from the beach so a nice stroll after dinner is a must for me.

It's a small place, but the food here is solid! I don't know how 'authentic' it is, and I don't really care.. We come here for their delicious shrimp, chicken, and beef fried rice, their chicken curry, vietnamese beef stew, and the beef pho--it might not be the best pho I've ever had, but I find it quite satisfying! Also, their shrimp crackers are pretty addicting. Give Basilic a try!!

Basilic offers fresh, light, fare for a fair price. I eat there at least once a week and usually order the chicken pho or HUO Spicy Noodle bowl and an appetizer. The egg crepe is delicious and the wings are some of the best I have had.

A Vietnamese restaurant contemporary in design blocks from the pier near Lauderdale by the Sea...what could go wrong!? I had been invited to try this restaurant on multiple occasions and always couldn't make it for one reason or another. One day a couple of weeks ago, I was in the neighborhood and decided in promptu to make this my stop in from the rain. Vietnamese food is often my defacto in colder or rainy climates and I can say this was a pleasant surprise. The summer rolls were no doubt made to order or just made within the hour. Wa Pow - ladies and gentlemen we have a winner for Broward. I sat in a corner booth while observing a charming place surrounded by windows and views of the outside street. I next tried the Spicy Lemongrass Wok Tossed Noodles. This dish was good but I probably won't order them the next time I go! Definitely worth a visit far and wide for the food, the charm and the area it's in...good ol' beachy Fort Lauderdale....

This place is fantastic and is quickly becoming one of my go-to restaurants. Very small, clean, and friendly spot. The service is very helpful and more than willing to help you if you're not experienced with Vietnamese food. I'll only vouch for the items that I've tried, these include: Beef Pho, Shaking Beef, Chicken Curry, and the Vietnamese Beef Stew. They're all excellent and worth a try. My favorite is the chicken curry, nice and spicy, which keeps me coming back for more. I've been here with friends, my dad, and on dates and it has never let me down. Enjoy!

Great alternative for those of us who live by the beach and don't feel like making the trek out West. No complaints whatsoever. Good quality food, meats and seafood are much better quality here than at your typical Asian eatery out West. Wide menu selection, but only five or six kinds of pho. Bringing my co-workers for lunch guaranteed. Still prefer Pho Hoa for pho, but this place is sure to become one of my new regulars. Thanks Hung N. for your review that got me interested!

This is my favorite restaurant. I only wish they would open one out west where I live. Everything is fresh, everyone is great; the portions are perfect and the prices are very reasonable. What more could you want in a restaurant? They have something for everyone. If you are adventurous, you can go for it. If not, there is always salmon or chicken.

Not what it appears to be, it's better. Sleek and polished, small, great food by a friendly staff. It seems miles from the Aruba Beach Cafe and Athena's Greek restaurant although barely steps away, a very short walk from Commercial and A1A. We started with complimentary shrimp crackers and a couple of sauces to spoon onto the crackers, a great start. The chicken curry with potatoes, sweet potatoes, and an excellent coconut flavored base was outstanding and the chicken pho was excellent, not too bland and not too flavorful, all the flavors came through beautifully. Dinner for 2, glass of house chard and 2 drafts plus tax came to 40 bucks including tax and a good tip, a deal. Went back again before leaving Lauderdale, my wife had the chicken curry and I had combination pho, with beef and sausage. Outstanding. Mix in a little hot sauce or plum sauce and it's the best. Again, 40 bucks including 2 beers, a wine, tax and a nice tip. It filled up pretty quickly about 7:15 or so on Friday night, so go early. Very highly recommended.

Coming to Ft. Lauderdale by way of first Seattle and then Houston, pho is something I've grown pretty accustomed to having. A couple basic things to look for are 1) noodles that are soft but separate, not all clumpy, and 2) a broth that has a bit of depth, both from the meat and spices. Basilic did fine with the noodles, but the broth was definitely NOT deep; more lemongrass than anything else. The place has a more medium-upscale vibe than your standard Vietnamese joint, and I suppose that's why the pho is about twice as expensive as said standard joint. Still, pho takes all of about 3 minutes to prepare and the total ingredients probably don't top about $2 to buy! A couple other weirdities: Metal chopsticks, really? They're long, really thin and smooth, just the wrong thing to try and pick up slippery rice noodles with. The hoisin and chili sauces come in a little ceramic tray on the plate with the bowl; cute for dipping, but would it kill them to put a bottle of hoisin and Sriracha on each table? Especially with this broth, some of each needs to be stirred into the soup, and scraping it out of the little tray is an anemic and messy affair. The rest of the "fixins" were fresh and fine, the beef slices OK though a little skimpy. The bowl was ceramic and there's only one size, kind of on the small side of medium for most normal pho places. Yes I'll eat here again, not only because I haven't tried the rest of the menu but since they're just about the only Vietnamese on the east side I'm sort of trapped. But I think I'm not going to help feeling a tad disappointed and peeved each time we go.

Another great meal at basilica. This time we had the chicken pho and a meal that had shrimp scallops and calamari with clear noodles sorry don't know the name of it but it was great. Apps were chicken wings which are fantastic and spring rolls. Staff and owner are very friendly and helpful with questions. Happy hours are 3-6 and is bogo.

I came here with a few friends and a fellow Yelper to try out some Vietnamese food. Had a great time, and the server was very friendly. My first time eating Vietnamese, but my Vietnamese friend claimed it was very Americanized. I had the Beef Pho, but ended up putting a lot of hot sauce due to a lack of flavor. All-in-all I had a great experience, and will withhold from writing a bad review until I try out another Vietnamese place. Any first-timers out there? This place isn't so bad!

  • Just A.

Had a good experience here, but the food wasn't Vietnamese enough. This coming from the guy who won't eat blood cakes and tripe. I had the pho with rare beef and brisket. The broth was tasty, but I had never experienced such a prominent ginger taste in pho. The broth lacked a lot of depth. That said, I still ate the whole bowl. Other dishes we had were shaking beef, a bahn mi and rolls. Everyone was reasonably happy with the meal. The food is priced pretty well for the location. The service wasn't bad. If you are at the beach and want some Vietnamese like food, this is a good spot. It just falls very short of the depth of flavor offered from many other spots.

Basilic Vietnamese Grill was a real hit with my dining companions. We were lucky and did not have to wait too long for a table. Shrimp crackers were brought as we were seated and we ordered a couple tsingtao beers. My companions decided to start with an order of spring and imperial rolls. The spring was fresh and full of shrimp with a peanut based dipping sauce. The imperial was deep fried and packed with some type of non distinguishable filling. The pho dishes were served piping hot while my vermicelli dish was tasty and filling. I had a taste of both beef and chicken broth. Each were light with many layers of flavor. My vermicelli was served with a barbecued pork. Fresh mint really added a new dimension to the combination of fresh veg, and warm noodles. I will probably have to try this dish at some of the other pho joints (for comparison purposes only). This place was packed and people were lined up to get in, but the service was efficient and the food was served in a fair time. I usually don't notice general hygiene unless something sticks to me, so the only draw back to this experience was the general feeling that things like the menu, my utensils, and the facilities were a little grubby. Not overly, but if I notice it I am sure others will too.

I should have known. No good Viet food in Florida. :( this is the second place for Viet food that we've hit up on this trip. 5th Viet place in 7 yrs. sadly, my friend's house is the only place in FL for good authentic Viet food. It was my husband who took my family for Viet food. I ordered mi thap cam (seafood with wonton and noodles) wings, spring rolls. Only thing good was the wings. :( iceberg lettuce in my spring rolls? Yuck. Too much lettuce compare to noodles in it. My soup broth was good but the noodles were not. A whole leaf of lettuce at the bottom of the bowl makes it impossible to actually eat it. Chilli oil peppers? Really? I'm not eating dimsum here people. Again, totally Americanized Viet food. Expensive too! Viet food should be like $6 a bowl of noodles. Here it goes up to $13. Haha my mom was saying we should move to FL and open our own Viet restaurant with good tasting food made with the real flavor of my peeps. No competition. Well, let's just hope I don't end up dying of thirst from overdose of MSG.

the parking is awful. i had ordered the chicken pho and it was not the most flavorful i have eaten and the portion was indecent for the price (i think $9). the appetizer mussels were super yumma though. they do give out these kropek shrimp chips in the beginning that are perttttyy tasty as well.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in plain sight. After going in for a bowl of pho, I couldn't believe I had driven past it so many times without realizing. The server/bartender in the daytime was fast and the decor inside added to the experience. Take a date!

I feel so bad writing this review. Drove by this place on the way to another place for lunch (Grandma's cafe which has sadly gone out of business). Always wanting to support people from my country, I yelled for my hubby to pull over. We had never heard of this place from friends or family members so decided to give it a whirl (very small Viet community here so we do tend to know if another restaurant pops up). Place was very clean and small and right on the street so we could watch folks walk by on their way to the beach. Parking was a bit of a pain but that's cause of all the beach folk. Hostess was very nice and sat us at once. Table setting was pretty with cute metal chopsticks. Within moments she had our drinks (no boba tea = [ and no classic viet lemonade, Da Chanh) and a basket of shrimp chips. Hubby loves watching these get cooked, they start off tiny and then explode open. But I digress. Now initially, I was happy to see Banh mi on the menu but she said they were completely out of bread. So then I was sad but that was OK. My mom would've killed me if I paid $6 for it, anyway. Also, they had Bo Kho but was serving it with rice (?). Well, anyway.... Started with the Banh Xeo (basically a crepe filled with meats). Confused by the itty bitty amount of veggies that came with it. No lettuce leaves, shredded leaves instead. What in gods name am I suppose to do with that. Nuoc Mam had barely a hint of fishiness, mostly water. Really tasteless. The crepe itself was decent though on flavor. Hubby got Bun Thit Nuong ( noodles with pork grilled and flavored with lemongrass usually). Not sure if pork had actually been grilled, like on a charcoal grill- in fact, pretty sure it wasn't. Rather bland and needed to have been marinated. I had the Bun Cha Gio (noodles with fried spring rolls cut up and on top). Not bad, had better but definitely not bad. Wish the nuoc mam had been better. Skipped dessert. Quiet a few tables filled up. Mostly tourist. All in all, this is not a place I would bring my mom or any family member. This is a place I would recommend to someone who is not familiar with the cuisine and scared of going "all the way". Not a bad baby step, like a California roll for those first time sushi people. I have to say, service was very nice and the young lady was a dear. Lunch came to about $28. I'm glad to have tried it, but will not be back. I got a menu for my mom and she and her little old Viet friends had a nice time laughing their head off.

combo pho was just a ok, not enough veggies and condiments, bff loved her bun, next time, if there is one, i'll get that but will prob make the trek out west and go to pho hoa. service was slow and waiter seemed stressed, basically throwing our food at us.

First, briefly -- I'm a huge Vietnamese fan and I really enjoyed Basilic. Tasty food, good service, good prices, and a nice location. Now not briefly at all... Having read the other reviews for this neighborhood Vietnamese joint I'd like to talk a little about context and frame my thoughts by admitting what most of know: south FL has pretty bad Vietnamese food. It make sense, there aren't that many Vietnamese. But because I love my pho so, anytime I've heard the smallest hint that some joint has above average Vietnamese in Miami-Dade or Broward I made a trip... and it all came up bleh, boring, or bad. So with that being said, I'm pretty excited about Basilic Vietnamese Grill as a neighborhood spot and have had a few very nice lunches and dinners in a row where the food was tasty and the service great in a space that isn't straight up gross (Pho 66, I'm looking at you). On the first lunch I went straight for a bun (Ha Noi-style vermicelli - bun cha) and thought it had a great balance of flavors though agree that the pork needed to be a bit more cooked to order. I could have also used more veggies, which seems to be a common complaint, but even so it was sweet, tangy, spicy, and fresh -- everything I'm looking for. I waited until my most recent dinner to try to pho (pho bo) because I just couldn't bear it if it turned out to be really bad... thankfully it wasn't, and I was surprised that it was very competent. The broth is nice and bright, but not that authentic -- there isn't a depth of flavor and I missed some of the tell tale aromatics. But like I said, it was good... simple and good. Basilic is clean and modern, they have a few beers on tap and wine, the servers are friendly and fast, and you get a free basket of shrimp crackers when you sit down. I wish that they amped up the experience more and went more truly Vietnamese (the menu has a bunch of stuff that feels like its trying to help the blue hairs of the local neighborhood who have no clue/interest in something authentic -- fried rice, curry, stir fry) or just took the modern/fusion thing and made it bolder... 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 as encouragement for the owners.

First and foremost a nod of the head to the server Anselm who was working the floor alone and did a great job--never had to ask for refills of tea or water--served, removed plates and timed everything extremely well including giving us the check.. Not being familiar with Vietnamese food I asked him for suggestions and he came through with the appetizer, grilled beef rolls ($6), Seafood noodle soup ($10.50) and, for dessert, fried banana on ice cream ($7) I wasn't thrilled with the rolls but Allen liked them and I ate all of mine! Everything tasted good but soup, no matter how filled with shrimp, pork, vegetables, noodles isn't substantial enough for me--good, filling but I need a main course to bite into. I definitely will go back again and hope Anselm is still working there but I will choose my own selections from the menu. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, bright and welcoming. Total check, including tax and tip, came to $50.28

I've been here several times because my fiance drags me here for pho. I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Once you've had authentic full flavored vietnamese food then nothing really compares. However, if you are like my fiancé and will accept watered down broth as a soup base then perhaps you'd enjoy it. I think someone else reviewed the shrimp chips and said they are some of the best, I definitely agree. The rice they serve is yelllow, bland and sticks together in large clumps, gross. As for the service, whenever we are are waited on by the female staff everything is prompt, polite and enjoyable but (not trying to be sexist its just how it is) whenever either of the male staff have waited on us its like they'd rather be doing anything else. Our table is never cleared so the glasses and plates just pile up, our check is brought out before we are done and there really is a rudeness if you ask any questions about the menu (ps. don't ask if they have dumplings, trust me). I would give 2 stars but I think my fiance would bite my head off so 3 will have to suffice. All in all, eat here if you must but don't expect it to live up to the 4 stars it has on yelp.

First off I am not a connoisseur of Vietnamese food. We didn't know what to expect. Ansom gave us several suggestions and all of them we're very good. I am not an expert in Vietnamese food but the experience here was great.

My fiance and I are fans of this place. The food quality of this place is pretty good and the prices are pretty reasonable. It probably isn't the most authentic Vietnamese place, but it is still pretty good. I like the combination pho and their noodle dishes.

What a fabulous restaurant Basilic Vietnamese truly is. Located on East Commercial Blvd. in Lauderdale - By - The - Sea within walking distance of the beach and fishing pier this gem of a restaurant has taken Ft. Lauderdale by surprise with it's fine cuisine and appreciating staff and tasteful decor. I happened on this gem through a discounted voucher from Groupon but it has won me over and I will become a repeat customer because this restaurant is really great in whatever they prepare. The food is exceptionally tasty and very fairly priced and the spices used to make their dishes sets then uniquely apart from all their Asian cousins. Owner and staff add to the wonderful experience that is the cornerstone of this restaurant and you will not be disappointed by anything served here. No matter where you live in the South Florida area; be it in Dade, Broward, Monroe or the South Palm Beach County area get into your car and make a beeline to this restaurant to experience their varied menu, exotic drinks and a dining experience that makes Vietnamese cuisine uniquely interesting and tastefully exciting.

While staying at a hotel at Lauderdale By the Sea, we were looking for a new place to try. We checked some of the reviews on Yelp and thought "hey why not". It was quite delicious. Among the 3 of us, we each had a different item for dinner. We were impressed with Anselm, the young man who seated us, made suggestions and served the food to us. The pricing was quite reasonable. They have a specials listed each day. Since the beginning of June we have gone twice and have not been disappointed. The last time we went was a Saturday night and we did have to wait approximately 30 minutes, but it was well worth it. We plan to go there on a regular basis.

Great food combined with a great atmosphere is what makes this place "it". Traditional Vietnamese food with a modern ambiance makes you feel as if you are eating in a perfect little restaurant in one of the many big cities in the world; yet even better. Here you can have an amazing dinner with friends and family then later walk one block to the beach and have a drink at one of the many bars. To top it all off, the staff is incredible and very well trained. When you go there make sure to ask for Jose and you will be treated like royalty.

Im not sure how Basilic compares to authentic Vietnemese restaurants but as my introduction, it won me over and has led me to try other, more authentic places. It is small, charming and clean...located new Lauderdale by the Sea (near Aruba's and Village Pump). The food is always flavorful, abundant and so reasonably priced. Id suggest starting off with the Pho with brisket. A big warm bowl of broth with sliced meat and fresh cilantro, basil, bamboo shoots, lime, sracha and so on to make it to your hearts content. Its perfect on a cold rainy day or to soothe a sore throat. My favorite dish is the lemongrass noodles...the noodles are perfectly cooked in a flavorful broth with tofu and brisket. The appetizers are amazing and definitely try the fresh hot spices that accompany the complimentary shrimp chips. One of my go to local haunts that I visit a few times a months.

We have gone to Basilic a couple of times and our experience this weekend was even better than in the past. Basilic is a small restaurant in Lauderdale By The Sea that is simply amazing. The service is attentive and the food is outstanding. If you are searching for authentic, delicious Vietnamese cuisine, you have got to try this place. We got the chicken curry and the crispy beef noodles. The curry was the best I have ever had. It is a thicker curry gravy that includes a generous amount of chicken with both white and sweet potatoes; white rice also comes with the dish. The crispy beef is an unbelievably large portion of appropriately seasoned noodles (rice or egg) with thinly sliced beef and baby corn, carrots, etc. The portions are huge, but the meals are so good that you end up finishing the whole dish. While parking can be an issue, we had no problem (on a Saturday night). This is a place to try if you are interested in a quiet restaurant with truly outstanding food and great service.

My Vietnamese girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a vietnamese restaurant around the bustling Lauderdale-by-the-sea pier. We decided to go on the strength of its Yelp reviews. We started off with shrimp and pork spring rolls (they allowed us to remove the pork as my GF is pescatarian) that came in a strong, tasty, sweet peanut sauce. For the main course, I had a fantastic chicken curry with coconut milk (must be a popular dish as we saw two other customers getting the same), which came with a significant amount of sweet and regular potatoes. My girlfriend ordered grilled salmon with red/green bell peppers, drenched in a semi-sweet sauce. It was served with steamed white rice, and we ended up ordering another small bowl of rice. Also, service was prompt and friendly. The check arrived in a bamboo case, which we had never seen at other restaurants. Very creative! If ever back in the area, would certainly consider returning.

Contrary to popular belief, this place is not trying to be Authentic Vietnamese. Basilic is French!! The place is serving Vietnamese food with french technique cooking because they have to. They have to work with the ingredients they're able to source and substitute as closely as possible to get it as close as possible without sacrificing the over aesthetics of each dish. That being said, they're doing a great job at this place. The portions are absolutely perfect, and the food is also spot on. I don't know about authentic since I've never been to vietnam, and I'm pretty sure that about 80% of the customers who happen to walk in and dine here have never been to vietnam either...so much for their authentic take on the food. What I do know is that you will not be disappointed with both the quality of the food as well as the bang for your buck. If you happen to be in the area and are looking for really safe and tasty asian cuisine, Basilic is the place to go.

Coming from California, it's been hard to find Vietnamese restaurants in south Florida to match style, price and sophistication. I had heard about this place from several friends, so I decided to check it out. I stopped by this afternoon for a late lunch. It turns out they serve all day (good thing). I found it to be well decorated, modern - asian with a preference for dark bamboos. There's a small liquor bar and the tables were set. The waiter, Tim was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the a cup of hot green tea, spring rolls and combination noodles (bun). While waiting for the food, I got a bowl of shrimp chips (great idea). It's not easy to make authentic Vietnamese food fuse with western tastes, but it appears they have done it. The food was flavorful, the decor was sophisticated, and clean, the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I will be back again to try out their other dishes. I'm giving them 4 stars because they have done a good job executing the fusion of authentic east and west, without over pricing their food.

The Pho is amazing and the staff is very courteous and helpful. Those who say it's "pricier" than other Vietnamese restaurants should consider locations of those restaurants. This is at the beach, where property values are much higher than in some city strip mall. ALL the restaurants on the beach are more expensive than their counterparts on the other side of the intracoastal. Get over it.

Pho fo sho the best!! Love this little friendly place! It's so nice inside and Jimmy helped me pick out the right pho for me since I was coming off a juice cleanse. Seriously the best pho. This might be the best pho you'll find in Fort Lauderdale. My sister and I went there the other day and loved it. The restaurant is small but the service and food are excellent. I ordered the combination pho. The first thing I noticed was that the broth was very flavorful and the aromatic. They also brought out shrimp chips which made me feel like a kid since ive grown up with them. Would recommend to both friends and family!

Worst service I have ever received from a server in my life. Not only was I not greeted of seated, the waiter with dark hair and a sleeve tatoo was rude dismissive the whole time at the restaurant. And when the check came he asked rudely if I wanted change back as if he knew he deserved a tip and when I told him I did want the change because I wasn't gonna tip him for the terrible service he rudely for up and said "how are you not gonna tip who do you think I am!?" Never in my life am I coming back

This is very Americanized Vietnamese food. The taste and flavor of the food has been toned down compare to real Vietnamese's food. They have lots of bean sprouts as fillers in the dishes. Also sometime a little excessive on the lemongrass as the case in their hot and sour hotpot. The food taste is other wise decent and clean. The noodles was very good on flavors. They at lest use a nice size large shrimp with their food. Yet to me it wasn't worth it, its $3-4 more expensive then your average Vietnamese restaurant. Not sure if the people here just like the beach environment and is putting up with the price or they never really had good Vietnamese food. From people previous posting of the Vietnamese crepe it doesn't look good. Vietnamese crepe is supposed to be a thin crispy crepe sometime paper thin at the edges. But over here its a bit thick. Over all it wasn't worth the drive nor gas to come here for high price unauthentic Vietnamese food that's just passingly good.

Today we tried the coconut curry chicken and shaking beef.... awesome as expected! Two for one happy hour from 3-6pm every day is a great deal also! When parking, there are spaces right next to the building on Bougainvilla Drive. In the spaces marked 218-216 only.

Delicious! Great service. Nice modern atmosphere! I love Vietnamese food!! Actually I love most types of Asian food!! We had so many options in NYC. It was so easy to find a new cuisine and fall in live all over again. Moving to Florida changed that a bit. It took me a while to find a spot with delicious Vietnamese food... And this is it. I come here at least once a month. We bring all of our out of town guests here for at least one meal- it is on my tour! Try not to fill up too much on the crunches they give you while waiting on your meal. They are addicting!!! Our standard order is delicious! We order: - Pho Soup- usually shrimp, but varies on the eating parameters of the rest of our party - Lemongrass Chicken - Bo Luc Lac The Pho Soup is a classic dish. It consists of a broth soup, linguine shaped rice noodles, scallions, mushrooms and choice of meat. It is served with a choice of condiments, including mint, jalapeño, bean sprouts, lime, pepper/salt, black sauce. The dish is ample enough to share among at least four people. I recommend adding mint, lime, a dash of salt/pepper and a bit of the black sauce to each serving. The result is tangy with a bit of a kick and a sultry warm broth that encompasses your senses as it travels within. Lemongrass Chicken is a fragrant and succulent chicken dish. The chicken is juicy, yet full of flavor. Each bite has you longing for more. Bo Luc Lac is another classic dish. Seared beef that is tossed in a delicious but light sauce served with a bed of rice and onions. The beef melts in your mouth, releasing the marinade favors in quiet succession... Beef... Garlic... Hint of sesame...a delicious tang....with a hint of sweetness. I recommend squeezing an additional hint of lime before tasting to dazzle the flavor a bit, but that is entirely up to you. Definitely come here. Everyone should experience the flavors of these dishes!

I was looking for a place to eat tonight at the commercial and A1A area and found this establishment on yelp. It was perfect considering I love Vietnamese food, especially pho. I walked right in, sat at the bar, and immediately was approached with a menu and submitted a drink order. I ended up getting the beef pho which was delicious. Service was quickly and timely as well as the food. I might come back for one more meal before I leave! So much to try and the atmosphere was nothing short of superb.

Fantastic food! I'm addicted to their beef Pho. They serve shrimp chips in lieu of bread which I love! So light and tasty. The lemongrass beef noodle bowl is delicious as well, the beef is extremely flavorfull and tender served with fresh vegetables and herbs. The service is so prompt and friendly and I have yet to be disappointed from them. Fantastic food, great service... Consider me a regular!

A co-worker took me here after our exhausting shopping spree at Costco and was this a welcome respite. Even better it's not too far around the corner from where I live, assuring I'll be back. Being the hungry piggy I can be I opted for a banh mi sandwich and oxtail soup pho (each were substantial meals in their own right). Soooo delicious. Fresh crunchy vibrant green cilantro, parsely and jalapeno were matched by on point crispy baguette and luscious slivers of carrots and pork. The soup was accompanied also by jalapenos, bean sprouts and a variety of savory and hot sauces (siracha) that brought this already tasty soup to another complex level of umami unctious delight. I can't wait to return to try out some of their other tantalizing menu options.

This is my go-to spot for Pho when in Ft. Lauderdale. It's very clean and the decor is modern. It's also very reasonably priced considering it's right off the beach. (Although I think the wine is a bit over priced). The Pho is quite flavorful and they say they don't use MSG. It's definitely comparable to places I've been to in NYC and Toronto. All the staff are friendly and the service is great.

Just finished eating at basilic and the food was great! We got the crispy wok noodles with beef and chicken and the beef brisket pho. It was all good and in huge portions. The pre-meal snack were some crispy wafers of some sort and a few were stale as heck. My main critique was the wait staff. They have us menus and water and came back a few minutes later and said, "ready to order?" Never asked for a drink order. The waiter made really weird jokes that weren't funny and the other male staff hung out by the bar and talked about other customers... Making rude gestures at a female as she walked past. Also parking sucks...

  • Phong K.

Surprisingly the pho here is pretty good however the customer service was horrible. The workers seemed depressed and gloomy. The guy literally complained like a little girl when we wanted our bill split up. He said it'll take up too much time. And they weren't even busy! However one redeeming aspect was when they forgot an order for one of our friends so they gave it to us free. Prices are too high for the food however. $7 for a ban mi?!?

  • Danielle R.

The only reason this is not a 5 star PHO review is because their parking sucks. I actually tried to go one other time and got so discouraged with trying to find a parking spot that I actually left. There's only 3 spots outside the restaurant but if you drive down the side street there's a parking area that looks like a converted turning lane, that fits about 8 or so cars for local business and it's free to boot! Whooohooo free parking by the beach #score! Awesome decor (I took pix) very clean lines. This is the second time I got to enjoy their amazingly delicious PHO and it's damn good! My friend was staying with me about 2 months ago (he's a healthy eater) and had a hankering for some PHO (he's from Alabama he gets hankering's for sure). Anyhow, he went and picked it up from here and we cooked it at home. Was delicious. I ordered the beef, brisket, and meatball. It's a huge portion and once again I took half of it home. It comes with a load of stuff on the side: Thai basil, hot spices, hot sauce, sprouts, jalapenos, limes, etc. Every bite can be another culinary treat---it's fantastic! Totally going back! Place is GREAT. I have not tried anything but the PHO, and probably won't as it's that good.

I have been here a handful of times of the past couple years. I never stray too far from the "normal" meal or the reason I came here in the first place. PHO... the Pho is very flavorful and customizable based on your taste desires, spice, no spice, hoisin sauce, sriracha sauce etc etc. I stick with the rare steak or the grilled chicken usually. I have had a few other ones, but I always migrate back to one of the classic Pho dishes. Most recently tried the spring rolls with peanut sauce appetizer and yeah that was pretty good too. Bring a large appetite because the Pho serving is ginormous.

Great Vietnamese, the Bún bò Hu and the Pho is excellent. Good service, good food. a little pricey, that's the reason for one less star.

Excellent pho restaurant. Plenty of parking available too on the street The complimentary shrimp chips are a nice touch. I hail from toronto where there are more pho restaurants than pizzerias and I must say it was one of the best phos I have ever eaten. It is small and quaint. Service can seem slow with just one server but they make it happen. Not touristy and the locals seem to like it.

This is a great place for Vietnamese food in Fort Lauderdale. I believe it is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area. The Pho Bo is the best! I highly recommend this restaurant to all.

I went here with some great expectation to eat some good pho but I was a bit disappointment their pho is ok nothing amazing or exceptional. Had much better in other places. The location of the restaurant is very nice since they have outside seating area and its seconds away from the beach.

I've never written a yelp review, but this place deserved it! I've been feeling especially crappy the last two days. The flu is going around as the weather just cooled down. My usual sick remedy when I lived on the west coast was always a big bowl of pho. Now, I'm born and raised in south Florida, but my time in The PNW and California made me realize how deprived we are down here of simple but wonderful flavors so finding this place was such a blessing ! I've researched for a good pho place several times, reading yelp reviews, but I have a spoils pallet now so everything has come up short. I made a 25 minute drive here out f absolute desperation and was happily satisfied. I had the pho ga with lemongrass grilled chicken and it was excellent! I personally like mine a but spicy so I had them add some chili oil to the broth. My throat is Sooo soothed and I feel happily full but not overly so. The broth itself is subtle yet flavorful and light and the lemongrass chicken have it that extra kick. 4 stars only because as I said, the west coast spoiled me, but I can confidently say these people may get sick of my haunting their establishment from now on. I highly recommend!

The chicken Pho was nicely presented and the flavor of the broth was excellent. My partner however had fried rice without the meat (since he is a vegetarian) .The rice looked old, the veggies should have been better chopped than they were and surprisingly, they charged the same amount 14.95 without the seafood or chicken. He thought they did a poor job of it.That and a somewhat snooty waiter in a place with only 4 customers at the time suggests that we shall not be back.

Love the Grilled Chicken Pho. This spot is located closely to the beach and it's pretty popular. I've seen this small place packed quite often. The ambience is nice. Feel like city modern. They offer beer and wine. Service is always good. Oh and parking is at a metered spot...so plan accordingly. Overall I would recommend this place.

Went here last night on a double date. This food was incredible. U start out with shrimp crackers and like this chile marmalade. It is weird to the ear, but quite wonderful to the palate. My wife got the shaking beef which was the most tender filet we have ever had. I had the chicken wok bowl which was equally phenomenal. Kudos for a great restaurant all around!

It was OK. There are plenty of other "Authentic Vietnamese" Restaurants which are far superior just minutes away. The decor is great, location great, portion size is fair but they are getting there money from those in Lauderdale by the sea who will pay for average Vietnamese. This place is ok if you don't feel like driving. PHO was an 7 on a scale of 1-10.

This is a great Vietnamese place for their food, ambience and location. The food is made fresh to order and they make any changes you want gladly. The staff is awesome and really easy to work with. I had a large group and they were able to accommodate us despite of the restaurant not being so big. The pho is really good. I like that they have many selections for instance the imperial rolls come with either chicken, pork or shrimp (most places just give you pork). Also the lemongrass chicken was very different from the ones I've had before but it was very tasty, fresh and the vegetables were a good addition. All and all I would definitely be back and recommend it.

I give it 2 stars but please read my review I give praise where due.... Food - No doubt delicious!!! Prices - A lil high however I'm sure the location overhead is expensive $15 for a sake??? Vibe - Modern, Comfortable Parking - GOOD LUCK Service - a bit arrogant, I don't like being told what to eat, I go over the menu pick a few items then narrow down from there. When I ask the server a question about the menu I expect an answer not a hand gesture to the area of the menu to READ IT FOR MYSELF. I'm out to relax please EARN the 20% tip I leave you. I was a server for years in college good service, patience and manners on a slow nite is very very easy. CLEAN - I don't like to walk on a floor coated with GREASE I remember doing the "McDonald's" slide as a kid I don't expect a grease coated floor in a restaurant of this price. Warning: watch your balance as you pass the bar on the wat to the restrooms!!!! Restroom Men's room I also don't expect to HOLD MY BREATHE where I'm offered a beef dish for $19.50. Owner/Manger SHAME ON YOU! Get your cleaning crew to scrub that mensroom floor to ceiling and every piece of equipment being used with bleach. A few sticks of fragrance will never correct the issue. I'm glad I didn't take a date I would have been furious if a date experienced the filthy conditions of a ladies room if it's anything like the mensroom. I will eat there again I'm hoping they clean a bit. I'm afraid of what I didn't see. Let me check my "Dirty Dining App" before I say for sure I'll eat here again...

Basilic's pho (especially the grilled chicken pho) is outstanding. The broth has just enough salt and great flavor and the fresh basil, spouts, jalapeños and other ingredients make this dish a favorite. The spring rolls and shaking beef also hit the spot. Basilic has a relaxing atmosphere, small bar and also is great for take out. If you stick to the pho and just a couple drinks, two people can dine for under $35 (including tax). The restaurant is located just 2 blocks from the beach.

The Boca location opened today and it's just as good as the Ft. Lauderdale location! I'm a huge fan of the Ft. Lauderdale location and was very excited to find out they were opening a boca location so close to my work. We were a group of 9 and expected the service to be a little slow since it was their first day open and we were such a large group. That was definitely not the case. The food was amazing and the service and staff was on par with the food. If you like really good vietnamese food, or just really good food in general, this is the place to go. Planning on making this a regular destination.

I go to this place all the time, and I usually get the curry noodle soup. The non-soup version of this curry is great too--probably the best sweet potato curry I've ever had--but in the soup it's really something special. The noodles at this place are just great overall. It's got a bunch of different kinds of pho, and they're all good. The shrimp chips they give you before your food have enriched and enlightened my life, and oh god if you eat them with some of the spicy stuff they have at the table or if you dip them into the curry broth it's a transcendental experience.

Actually pretty good. Hard for me to find a Vietnamese restaurant that makes pho that isn't bland. Boyfriend and I have been here two times so far. It's a bit of a drive for us from where we live, but we were around for the day so it was okay. First time we went, we ordered the combination platter for appetizer, pho dac biet, bun bo hue, and a taro and a honeydew boba. The combination platter came with 2 egg rolls, 2 spring rolls, and fried calamari. Egg rolls were good, calamari was good, and spring rolls were okay. Spring rolls taste much better when you're making them yourself at home. The taro and honeydew boba were blah though. Didn't taste as good as other places and the tapioca pearls were not chewy at all and were over cooked. The pho was the best restaurant pho I've had and the bun bo was also the best restaurant bun bo I've had. Except I guess this place is catered to more non-Vietnamese/Asian so the bun bo did not have any pig feet (which in my opinion, completes a bowl of bun bo). But it was still pretty good and they use the big noodles for it too which is the way it's supposed to be. Another thing is that the broth is red, which is also right. Most other places seem to half-ass their broth for the bun bo. Even though our boba drinks were blah, our first time was pretty good. Service was good too. Our second time there was yesterday. Boyfriend had bun bo again and again, it was good. Instead of pho, I ordered com suong nuon (pork chops). It was alright. Not great, not bad. I didn't like that they minced the carrots and daikon instead of julienning it. The sweet fish sauce was lacking in flavor a bit too. The pork chops were okay and not over cooked like most places, but it was lacking in visual. Wish it had a richer darker brown color, but still tasted good. I probably wouldn't order it again but it's not bad. Service this time was also good. It's a bit more expensive than other places, but I would still go when I'm around the area. And they serve free shrimp chips once you are at your table.

Was given 2 gift cards to Basilic. Tried using them in October at Ft Lauderdale. Was told the machine wasn't working. Tried using them in November was told Ft Lauderdale cards not accepted in Boca. Phoned restaurant & was told gift cards good at either location (not for me). Owner & Manager called me to fix the problem. They refunded the gift card amounts AND gave me a paper gift certificate for $50. Thank you

This place is incredible! Everything here is awesome but they are known for the "Pho" dishes. The broth is cooked for many many hours and it's kind of "do it yourself" kind of dish as to how much and which ingredients you'd like to mix in. The lemongrass seafood is amazing, the curry seafood is amazing, everything is pretty much "amazing!" Jimmy is actually the only waiter that I've had going there but he is THE BEST in the business. He will tell you honestly what dishes are better than others according to your preferred tastes/flavors. He is GREAT and the restaurant is GREAT. Don't hesitate to go here!!

Having had little experience with Vietnamese cuisine I was delighted to a stumble upon Bisilic Vietnam Grill. It's clean, neat, of simple décor, bright, comfortable or in their words set as a "boutique eatery." Having had several pho dishes in past I opted for their combination pho of steak and brisket for comparison purposes which came typically served in one of those traditional mixer sized bowls. It was certainly of good portion and of outstanding presentation. The taste was typical but somewhat weak on flavor, not being very pronounced. My business associate had the barbecue pork and rice which I sampled and again, though decent in flavor, not particularly pronounced and generally nothing of note. However, their menu is rather extensive and contains other offerings that I won't hesitate to try in the future. The complimentary shrimp chips, however, were some of the best ever and as one reviewer noted, somewhat addicting. The service was slow, seemingly disorganized but extremely polite, well mannered and helpful.

I have been here several time and it has been great. However my last dinner experience was a nightmare. My waitress was very nasty and seemed to have an attitude. To add insult to injury there was also a hair in my food which grossed me out. Please get a new waitress that doesn't have an attitude she really needs a wake up call.

3 1/2 stars. Wanted a bowl of Pho before boarding the Cruise ship and this was a convenient place to stop. Parking was a breeze and the place is clean and on the smaller side. My pho I recall was around $9.00 and when it arrived the bowl was decent sized. The broth was tasty but overall the pho and presentation seemed Americanized. This maybe a good thing considering the demographics. Being from Southern CA I'm pretty spoiled with the inexpensive prices and many restaurants to choose for Pho but Basilic Vietnamese Grill cured my Pho craving.

SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE TONIGHT. I have dined here several times. I love coming here for the amazing food and hole-in-wall type atmosphere. Today was a Saturday night, an was a little busier than usual. While plentiful in numbers, the staff seemed incredibly over whelmed and a bit rude at times. It is a shame that my review cannot focus more on the exceptional menu, but it took 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar while waiting for my table. After I got my table, service felt rushed and I had to hustle to get water refills, beer refills, and our check. I also wanted to add chicken to my soup bowl, which the waiter acknowledged, but it did not end up in the bowl. I WILL GIVE THIS PLACE ONE MORE TRY. but if I experience bad service again, I will never come back. Rather than recommend it, I will bash it.

Well, not quite how I expected things to go. Ironically, the food was not bad. The problem began when my dish came out with a loooonnngggggg hair enmeshed in it- I get it, it can happen and I sent it back. New dish arrives minutes later and as I'm eating, I hear someone rapid-fire sneezing in the kitchen- wonderful! To top it off, I discover ANOTHER hair as I'm 3/4 through the meal!!! Check please. I couldn't make this up if I tried.

I have only ordered the grilled chicken pho, and see no reason to change. It is packed with a depth of flavor that is hard to find anywhere. The noodles are fresh, the basil is incredibly aromatic, etc... just the best pho I have ever had. I have seen my friends order other items and although I can't offer detailed thoughts, they were smiling from ear to ear :) Why only 4 stars, you ask? Great question! Parking. Grrr, the parking is difficult in that part of town, so I don't have a suggestions for them, but nevertheless, parking is frustrating and always a consideration when you have time constraints for lunch.

This is our go-to Pho restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. We've had the Vietnamese grilled beef salad (highly recommend), various Phos (go for that!) and the chicken wok tossed noodles (skip it). All their Phos are magical. Where to start? The broth is already bursting with flavours, but it becomes spectacular with the sweetness of the black bean paste, the tanginess of the lime and the kick from the spicy pepper sauce. You have the option to have your meat raw or grilled, and I would strongly recommend you opt with the latter choice: the grilling adds some smokiness to your broth that is terrific. Healthy yet copious and satisfying, this is wonderful meal that will make you feel good afterwards.

Best Vietnamese food down here in south Florida! It literally does not disappoint! And the staff is very courteous. My server was a red head and was very attentive and recommended some appetizers that just became by new addiction ! I can't get the calamari out of my mind or the shaking beef. Keep up the good work basillic!

5 stars for the pho, 2.5 for the service. I get it; it's a small place and there was a long line on this stormy Sunday night, but that doesn't mean it's okay to ignore people who're seated for too long. And I swear, I have no idea until now who our server for the night was supposed to be. But the Pho was delish! I'll give them that; got the grilled beef and it didn't disappoint!

Went there for the first time with hubby today and not knowing but it was a happy hour, BOGO style. Ordered a Beef Stew soup with rice noodle and it blew my mind!!! So happy didn't order any appetizers cause portions are huge!!! Husband ordered Shaking Beef and it was truly Devine. Will be coming back for sure. Food and atmosphere do get 5 starts but the server, Jimmy could loose the attitude and use some personality.

Hidden treasure! I've been going to this place for quite a while. It's conveniently located close to where I live. It's as authentic Vietnamese cosine as you are going to get.

It's the best I've been to so far down here in FL. The prices are a little steep for a bowl of pho but I guess it's expected for the location. Right near the beach, decor is great inside, and service is good. Been here twice so far. First time, I got the grilled vermicelli bowl. Nice refreshing bowl to get during these hot humid days. They give you a decent amount of food here so I ended up taking some home. The vinaigrette is very balanced in flavor (so hard to find a restaurant that makes good nuoc cham). Second visit, I got the grilled beef salad. The server did ask if I liked carrots, which I do, but it overtook the salad. They really should have mixed in some cabbage to balance it out but I enjoyed it otherwise. The pho and the bun bo hue broth are both flavorful and delicious. You cannot go wrong with either of these two soup bowls but with me still getting used to this hot weather, eating a bowl of steaming soup just was not going to help.

Food was just as described by others on yelp, great! ! The appetizer shrimp and calamari fried wasn't anything to brag about, I found it lacking seasoning and wouldn't order it again. Now onto what I will be dreaming about I think it was called shrimp or seafood noodle edd drop soup.... amazing! ! The noodles we perfect texture and the broth was to die for. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful Vietnamese food. I tried the lemongrass beef noodle bowl and it was out of this world. The beef was so tender and seasoned with a heavy dose of lemongrass, served on rice noodles and lots of fresh vegetables like cilantro, jalapeño, and green onions...wow it was so good! Vietnamese is really my favorite cuisine and I have high expectations for the food. This place really delivered on flavor and it was outstanding. None of the dishes I tried were watered down to appeal to broader taste, they were very specific Vietnamese flavors and captured so well. When you sit down you are served a basket of shrimp chips, these are larger than the average shrimp chips, and they almost look like they're house made-they were delicious. I also tried a cooked salmon summer roll, this is really different from other Vietnamese restaurants, Great flavor and texture. I would like to give this place five stars, because the food was so wonderful! I came with a large party of around 12 people and they had a bit of trouble seating us because it is a small restaurant. I understand that and they were very nice and accommodating to our large group by moving tables together. We didn't call ahead to make reservations because it was an odd time of day, around 3 PM and the restaurant was really quite empty. The restaurant staff, despite trying very hard, seemed a little baffled by a large party size. Honestly, I think we were freaking them out they looked really stressed while taking food orders. Next time I will call ahead and give them warning. If you're in the area definitely try this place out if you're a fan of Vietnamese food.

The food is delicious! They offer good tea, service is fast even though the restaurant was packed. We did the whole experience: Iced tea for beverage; Fresh Shrimp/Pork Spring Rolls and Shrimp Chips for appetizers; I had the Vietnamese Beef Stew (with steamed rice) and my wife had the Beef Stew Noodle Soup (egg noodles; Fried banana with coconut ice cream; Hot vietnamese coffee. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection, fast. Great restaurant!

We went with a group and although it is a smaller place they were able to accommodate us after about 15 minutes. The place has a trendy feel inside so great place to bring a date. We ordered the spring rolls which I don't normally order but really enjoyed them. We also had chicken wing appetizer and it comes with a delicious chili sauce. I had the shaking beef and added spice but thought it was wonderful. My husband ordered beef pho and the rest of the table ordered oxtail pho, chicken salad, and seafood curry. We each tried each other's and they were all very tasty.

Nothing soothes the soul than a big bowl of pho... It's like getting a big hug in the form of a huge bowl of hot beefy goodness with the fixings. The restaurant is small with an outside seating area that I've never seen used. The interior is cute and modern with a small bar as you walk in. Parking can be a mission as there is very limited parking spots and meters near by. You are given a bowl of shrimp chips when you get to your table. I find them so addicting and have to stop myself from eating the whole bowl. Reminds me of my childhood and of snacks that I used to eat when I was younger. Haven't tried the whole menu, honestly all I've had from here are the different pho (the beef and the combination), as well as the fresh spring rolls. The pho here is good but it isn't the best I've ever had. I want to add that I think the prices are a little on the steeper side. To add to that, the menu that you find online has different prices than the menus in the restaurant. The online menu is a little cheaper. So don't be surprised if you call an order in and end up paying more when you pick it up. With that being said, the food is good... the service has been good... wish the prices were a little more comparable to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to.

Food is great, probably one of the best Vietnamese place in this part of Florida. Pricier than a normal Vietnamese joint, and the location isn't my favorite. Parking is a headache most of the time. But I haven't been disappointed either time that I've gone here. Pho was great, so was the bo kho. They serve shrimp chips, which reminds me of when I was younger. The place is nice and clean too.

Food: Hit or miss. Great Duck Pho, so-so shrimp spring rolls (no jalapeno, no mint, no carrots, no cucumber, just Sysco chopped iceberg, noodles, shrimp). Price: A smidge high for hit or miss food. Ambiance: For lunch, pretty quiet, although other reviews note that it gets packed. Parking: Tough! Watch the signs, beware towing!

Loved this place, we came all the way up from Miami. All the food was so savory, we got the duck noodle soup and wok stir noodles. We had our two kids (both under 3) they had a great selection on the kids menu and cool highchairs so they could sit at the table. Small place with big windows, and very accommodating!

Most places in area are American grill and I needed change...Found this place on yelp. Found free parking outside. Walked into clean beautiful place. Sat at small bar and ordered tiger beer & lemongrass chicken....delicious and cheaply priced! Friends ordered soups and noodle bowls...loved it. Waitress was amazing... went through menu with us and took care of us. This is the spot for your Vietnamese food.

Good food, but this place has the worst service ever. Never in my life have I been asked if I was going to tip the server he was rude never checked up on how we were doing. Did not start no conversations. He often cut the conversations very short. He did his job but never earned a tip and on top of that ask for one. The guy with the black hair, gauges, and a Tatted sleeve. Some one help this guy with some world class customer service please!

One of the most delicious Pho soups I have ever had. Usually I eat Vegetable Pho or Chicken Pho but this restaurant offers something different - Grilled Chicken Pho. Sounds really interesting and tastes amazing! Usually I have to add a bit of sauces in my Pho as they taste a bit bland but for this Pho I did not need to add anything! The broth was very flavorful and salty enough. Loved the fact that chicken was not plain boiled as in usual Pho, but tasted really good by itself, just like marinated and grilled. The portion was big enough to share for two people, and did not contain mostly noodles (as other Pho places). We also ordered Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp & pork, that came with Peanut Sauce. I did like the Rolls too, even though I didn't enjoy the pork part much. Other than that, the restaurant looks really nice and clean, it has free parking in front and rear. The restaurant was about 60% full on Tuesday evening, and I would love to come back for another Pho. My only complaint is that there could be some pictures on a menu! Yelp is very helpful but for somebody who does not have yelp app, it could be a headache.

My standards come from being Vietnamese. This place is Americanized. The prices are $4 more than authentic Vietnamese joints. It's price reflects the image and not the food quality or quantity. We had the combination pho and pork chop. They offer no sizing options for pho. They don't have housing or sirracha sauce at the table, instead just a bottle of soy sauce and chillie sauces. The decor is very modern and clean. Semi upscale looking. The pho was mild in flavor. It lacked the aromatics from the star anise and cloves in authentic pho. The portion size was that of a medium bowl. 2/5 rating. The pork chops was good but it was the pan fried version. I prefer the grilled style. It was the lemon grass type of marinade. 3/5 rating. I come from Orlando. Orlando has a greater Vietnamese population. Unfortunately, we're stuck with little options around Ft. Lauderdale. I recommend if you are desperate for Vietnamese.

Service - I visited this place 3 times - unfortunately I was disappointed every time. They are dismissive and lack of interest to make sure you have a great experience. I even wondered if they work on tips! Food - I tried the traditional dishes: Grilled chicken Pho - Perfection. It had an abundant amount of vegetables. Fresh! Ambiance - is small modern and hip. Nice music. Location - Tricky to find parking but anything close to the beach will present you that challenge. Conclusion: Order take out and if you are looking for good Pho - try Temple Street for some Asian fusion. East Fort Lauderdale is in need of a great Vietnamese restaurant.

We order the same every time and have never been disappointed. Fresh Rolls, chicken Crepe, one beef Pho and one grilled chicken Pho. We have introduced this place to many friends and now they are all addicted. It's nice to be able to get good Vietnamese in a smaller city like in south Florida. Usually in Lauderdale you have to go way out west to some crappy strip mall with zero atmosphere. This place is really nice looking, modern and clean. Love this place!

Service was great but food was disappointing. The tea and prawn chips served before the actual entrée was more flavorful. Noodles were sour and weren't enjoyable. Possibly a bad batch but rather spend less on Viet food I know tastes better.

Love the grilled chicken Pho, its absolutely fantastic, you put in all your herbs that they provide you on the side of your plate. I really just love it! Whats even better you ask??? Their iced coffee, that is the best ice coffee ive ever had in my life. Their staff is very nice and fast! The ambiance is lovely, yes its a little pricier than other vietnamese places by just a few bucks but theres a very good reason, youre paying for a trendy, clean, place at Lauderdale by the Sea. duh its americanized thats why it does so well, it attracts the americans! Want to pay less a couple bucks go to an authentic hole in the wall off 441. Also I must recommend their fried banana desert thing. DELISH! They also carry this wonderful Buddha beer yum.

A very well reviewed spot in Fort Lauderdale and I'm not about to take away from the clear popularity of this place. For me this place was spot on, however with the access I have to Pho back home in Toronto this place met my expectations without wowing me beyond anything I'd had in past. Appetizers we had the deep fried calamari which I thought was really well done with the peppers and onions AND the the shrimp roll things, which were pretty good as you could just dunk'em in the seafood sauce and pop them in your mouth (NB: Seafood sauce is not exactly a traditional Vietnamese dipping sauce). For the main I ordered up the Pho with all the meat, my usual staple so I have fair grounds for comparison. I found that I received a lot less for a lot more than I do back home, broth was clear so I knew it was fresh and the meat was cooked nicely but I did find it to be a tad sparse - which I can agree is par for most run of the mill places back home, but with all the amazing reviews I expected a heartier bowl-o-pho. Don't let me review dissuade you, I still think this is a great Pho option, but call my palette a touch more picky (maybe spoiled). Eatcrest Out

Absolutely the worst Pho ever!!!! Honestly could not believe the poor quality. I orderd the oxtail Pho... When it came to the table I looked and the bean sprouts were brown and broken in bits, the hot peppers where jalapeños first of all what a joke! ... They should be asian chillies... Not hard to find guys...They were also dried up and turning color. The oxtail was super chewy and old like they had been in the fridge for days they were lacking the rich beefy aroma and flavor expected with oxtail. If you serve Pho have all of the components. Too many staff for such a tiny place and the kitchen staff are way too loud. If you want a good place to have Pho and excellent service I would have to suggest" Ft Lauderdale Noodle House" they actually have a full Vietnamese Menu. I have to say I was super disappointed. It was my first time there and the last. My friend had been there before and mentioned the quality of the food had taken a turn for the worse.

Best Pho I have had because the chicken is grilled and seasoned to perfection and the broth is SO tasty! great location and ambiance. Great service, expect to wait for dinner or weekends but its worth it and IM SUPER picky, they are also very clean so thats a huge plus for me. Get your grilled chicken Pho here :) oh the shrimp chips are yummy too

Finally, had the chance to make it here due to the distance that I live from here. With all the amazing reviews, Basilic surely did catch my attention and curiosity. To start off with, service is excellent from the minute you walk in until the time you leave. Even if it's close to closing time. The ambiance is nice as you walk into a chic environment, modern touches and a great selection of beers- bottled and tap. Green papaya salad - nice fresh crisp strips of papaya along with other fresh mixins,' perfectly and well balanced sweet vinegar dressing that brought a pop to your tastebuds. Added the grilled shrimp to give it some added protein and texture, that was well cooked and seasoned as well. Beef pho- adequate amounts of sliced beef with a tasty soup base. Something that really stood out was this soup base had a slight sweetness to it, may have been the thin slices of sweet Vidalia onions. Just enough to fill you up. Ox tail pho- about 5-6 pieces of tail, tasteful and cooked to the manner where there is still a bite to it and chewiness. Just enough noodles to fill you up without you begging for more. A nice touch to this bowl was the addition of steamed daikon and carrots to the soup that added an extra sweetness to it that you wouldn't find at any other pho place. A bit pricey for Vietnamese pho, but it really does balance itself out once you take your first bite of food.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new Pho place close to home and we found Basilic. Basilic doesn't have the best Pho I've ever tried, but it's not bad. I really like the modern décor of the restaurant and the service is great. They also give you prawn chips as an appetizer. I will most likely be back.

Awesome food complimented by fantastic service. I must say I've been to quite a few Vietnamese restaurants, but I have found Basilic to be extraordinary in so many ways. While the restaurant itself is always clean and inviting, and the food consistently full of flavor and delicious, I most enjoy the impeccable and professional service by our server, Jimmy. Without a doubt, his personality and patience makes for a great dining experience. I appreciate his sense of humor and attention to our dining needs. Great place, great people, can't wait till my next meal there

He said it takes 13 hrs to make the broth! And i loved the indie music that was playing. Can't wait to go back!!

Well priced food in a great location. The food quality wasn't there, but it was plentiful and filling. The service was friendly, helpful, and fast. The restaurant was literally empty on a holiday Monday mid-afternoon.

Enjoy!

Basilic offers fresh, light, fare for a fair price. I eat there at least once a week and usually order the chicken pho or HUO Spicy Noodle bowl and an appetizer. The egg crepe is delicious and the wings are some of the best I have had.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in plain sight. After going in for a bowl of pho, I couldn't believe I had driven past it so many times without realizing. The server/bartender in the daytime was fast and the decor inside added to the experience. Take a date!

Love this place, the pho is delicious! I usually have the papaya salad and the spicy beef mixed vegetables plate. The spring rolls are very good too. I want to try the Vietnamese sandwiches but they only serve them for lunch.. Only negative for me.. Still giving them a 5 star!

This place has a nice decor and definitely caters to the western palate. The nuoc mam is bland but the portions are big. Dinner for 3 including the combination platter as an app was 55 dollars. Parking consists of 5 metered spots or across the busy street.

I had the spicy beef sate pho which was fabulous. Thy are have 2 for 1 happy hour and a great wine list. The prices are very reasonable too. My new favorite go to place.

I can't wait to come back next week!

Thank you

We had dinner there last night. I've had Pho in number of states and this place is by far the very best. The menu is nice, with plenty of options to choose from. Prae waited on us and made our night even better, she is the best!

Thanks!

I recently introduced to a few friends and they absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. I always have the same Grilled Chicken Pho with added Grilled Shrimp. It's as authentic Vietnamese cosine as you are going to get.

Sat at small bar and ordered tiger beer & lemongrass chicken....delicious and cheaply priced! Friends ordered soups and noodle bowls...loved it. Waitress was amazing... went through menu with us and took care of us. This is the spot for your Vietnamese food.

Get your grilled chicken Pho here :) oh the shrimp chips are yummy too

5 stars for the pho, 2.5 for the service. I get it; it's a small place and there was a long line on this stormy Sunday night, but that doesn't mean it's okay to ignore people who're seated for too long. And I swear, I have no idea until now who our server for the night was supposed to be. But the Pho was delish! I'll give them that; got the grilled beef and it didn't disappoint!

  • Jamie C.

Fantastic place...the soups and noodle bowels are great. My favorite is the Shaking Beef. Every dish I have tried has been excellent. I have been here about 20 times and this is a catch-up review. Awesome service and reasonably priced. Strongly recommend!!!

We have been here at least 50 times. This is one of our top spots in soflo for its consistency, cleanliness, the food is flavorful, portions, friendly service.
